Effect of Various Agents on the Phosphorylase Activity of Rat Liver
Abstract
The effect of various agents on the phosphorylase activity of rat liver homogenate was studied in vitro and the results were summarized as follows.
1. Lowering incubation temperature depressed markedly the activity of phosphorylase.
2. The liver phosphorylase activity was markedly depressed by iodoacetic acid whereas it was little influenced by NaCN.
3. DNP had variable effects, and sodium azide had no effect on the activity of the enzyme.
4. Ouabain slightly depressed the phosphorylase activity whereas it was depressed by oligomycin.
5. Vasopressin had no effect on the phosphorylase activity while thyroxine, estradiol and progesterone markedly depressed the activity of the enzyme.
